Yet More Human Ignorance

Post by Michael » March 4th, 2007, 11:30 am

My essays are usually political in nature. However, I’d rather view them as social in nature.

What we’ve done here in the FUSA is to politicize society. There’s a difference between political decisions and social preferences.

The so called Right wants small government. What that means is that they don’t want to have to pay taxes to help anyone. They want to keep all of the money they earn (or, as in many cases, don’t earn) for themselves.

And why not? They’ve earned it, right? It’s theirs, right? Why does someone else deserve a piece of what they’ve earned?

Ironically enough, this same group doesn’t mind government intruding into peoples’ lives by telling them what they can and can not put into their bodies, by telling them who they can and can not love, by telling women that the price for being raped or making a poor judgment is to raise the resulting child, whether or not a woman wants to or is even ready to raise a child, by throwing their religious beliefs into the faces of those who don’t believe as they do. As long as they don’t have to pay for it, they don’t mind government controlling any part of a persons’ life. Despite what they say, they support big government if that support doesn’t cost them anything. In fact, to go even further, they’ll support big government as long as it takes something away from people and isn’t for the benefit of people.

Why should they have to pay to help others?

Let’s think of the animal kingdom, since this will ultimately be about an animal. Most animals that live in the wild seen to live in groups, societies, if you will. I’ve seen animals, like lions, chase down prey, food for them, and, after catching up with it, allowing the rest of the pride to feed from that catch.

I’d say we should feel an obligation to help members of our society because we’re not animals. However, in actuality, animals have social conscience down a whole lot better than humans as referenced in the above example.

In addition to not wanting to help others by sharing their wealth, some people don’t even want other people to be around because the other people look and speak differently. How many Black people were hanged merely because they’re Black. How long did it take the government of the FUSA to decide to force ignorant people to treat human beings as human beings no matter the color of their skin. Imagine not being able to eat or live or go to school where you’d like to eat, live or go to school because the law takes the color of your skin into account when making laws which allow or deny such things.

Ignorance is defined atDictionary.com as:

“n. The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.

noun
the lack of knowledge or education"

Consequently, when one is not familiar with something, one tends to be cautious around it. Prejudice comes from ignorance which spawns fear.

People mistreat what they don’t understand because they are afraid of what they don’t understand. People commit the most heinous crimes against others because they are actually afraid of others. They’ve found it easier to continue to be ignorant and balance that ignorance and fear with mistreatment, sometimes the very worse mistreatment.

The following is a message I received from a friend. The message deals with something, an animal in this case, which frightens people so much that there is actually a bill before the California legislature to exterminate this animal. This is just another case of human beings taking the easy way out. Instead of learning about the animal, they’d rather exterminate it.

I’ll let my friend tell you the rest of this sad yet so typically human story.

By the way, if your computer is slow, it’ll take time for all of the pictures to appear. They’re worth waiting for.

To friendship,
Michael

This is about California legislation being passed to exterminate pit bulls. If it passes in California, it could be on its way to anywhere. Someone has to try to make a difference...what if it were your pet?

It would be great if Myspace could be used for something good other than getting dates. Please pass the word along and post this...so as many people can see this as possible.

weird human mind that created dogs as pìt bulls, dogos and dobermans...!!! I really don´t like the idea to have them in my house (maybe they could say viceversa!!) and I also don´t like the idea of a neighbor or a friend with one of them near my person without a bozal... !! but to kill them, it´s too much!!
good luck!!

What bothers me mostly about this whole situation is the belief that human beings somehow “own” the earth. We take, but we don’t give back.

Evolution promoted itself to its own Peter Principle when it progressed to the human being.

Maybe someone will disagree with me and maybe that person will be correct. I don’t pretend to be a zoological expert, but it really appears from where I’m sitting that socialism is truly doable. Animals seem to have no trouble sharing or getting along in prides or herds or bevies.

I know, I know, the duckbilled fair haired, four toed, cannibal orangutans from Borneo are Libertarians.

Every time I mention that I observe animals as peace loving creatures, not starting wars in which the offspring are killed or over a banana tree or something like that, some advanced expert who’s earned basically a general doctorate in everything tells me I’m wrong. He or she then lecture us about some species of insect which lives on a deserted Island yet to be named. These creatures actually plan wars after lying to the rest of the group about teeth of mass destruction. In these wars, the offspring are killed as well as the rest of the population, disproving my observation that, yes, some animals are vicious, but it’s a defense mechanism. There’s a lot of competition in the wild – see, see, capitalism at work in the wild – and animals need to be vigilant so that another breed or species doesn’t surprise them by flying into nests, killing innocent animals – because they hate the victim’s freedoms.

In truth, I’d be cautious if introduced to a pit bull. I would also believe that, if the owner owns the dog because he or she is an animal lover, the dog probably won’t attack me.

Bottom line – when we start legislating the extermination of whole groups of living creatures because we’ve bred these creatures to be vicious so we can pick up a buck or two at the Friday night pit-bull fights, we step out of bounds.

Michael

ah...I forgot the rottweillers!!!! (or something like that!!). In general terms I´m not a pet-loving person and I teach Social Sciences, I know..!!! but I love to see animals in the wild and to know that they are ok in their own ways.
There is a point I particularly don´t understand... those are dogs created in order to kill...!! (yeah, I know maybe they don´t kill or hurt after all... sometimes). What would be the "gracia" to have a pet with that caracteristics..!!.
They are very popular here since some years ago and the replaced the ovejeros and the dobermans as some kind of "security service" in some houses. (Yeah, a gun, an alarm system, a private security system plus one or more of those dogs... People that don´t have the money for the whole paquete still have a gun an some of those dogs..).
Some school kids told me two years ago that here also there was very crowded pit bulls fights behind a local cemetery... which is very cruel.
Well, maybe love has mysterious ways...!!

Arcadia, I have to ask you what you mean by “created”. If you’re speaking about some supreme being creating these dogs to be killers, I don’t buy it.

In the first place, I don’t believe that there is a supreme being and, if there was a supreme being and he or she or it actually created an animal to kill for any other reason than for food, it would give me even more reason not to believe in him, her or it.

Now you’re talkin’! Human beings bred these animals to kill. Again, another sign of evolution’s Peter Principle at work. Human beings are the species whose existence was birthed from nature living over her, his or its means by going one step too far in the evolutionary process.

And if creating violence between two innocent dogs doesn’t satisfy you, well, you can always get a couple of roosters to bloody each other to death. Sounds like exciting fun to me, hey?

If you’re lucky enough to be in such a position and cocks and dogs don’t do it for you, you can always lie to a nation and get actual human beings to blow each other’s legs, arms or heads off in the name of…9/11 or WMD. There are a lot of lies that can be told to initiate the best of all reality shows – war.

There are far too many human beings who aren’t satisfied unless they can get creatures mutilating one another.

I recommend that everyone look at the VHEMT web site. This group has it right.

To friendship,
Michael

"Arcadia, I have to ask you what you mean by “created”. If you’re speaking about some supreme being creating these dogs to be killers, I don’t buy it." (sorry if I sounded like a teologitian or something like that, it was not my intention):I mean these dogs are the product of a carefully genetic experiments/cruzas and sometimes training made on purpose by humans in order to have dogs with some kind of skills and certain body. For example the dogo is a dog "created/made/produced" originally to kill jabalíes during huntings. Here each year there are a lot of grave "accidentes" involving dogos and other big-hunters dogs and specially kids. No idea what goes in the head of people in that situation:
maybe " petty (not Tom, of course) can do it but petty won´t do it because I love her/him or I have control about her/him", "petty can do it and petty will do it because I love her/him and I have control about her/him", "maybe there are potential hunting in the house and they are only target-dogs", who knows.
But your article is not only about dogs, and I eat cows almost everyday!!
Thanks for sharing,

Arcadia
