Brainy Bird Haiku

grackles in the Aleppo
talking about the cheetos!
breakfast in the park

...

grackle whizzing past
a bottle cap drops
sky is falling!

...

birdbath treasure
drinking and dipping~
grackle bar is open

It is now known that the corvid family of birds, which includes the grackles are not "bird brained". In fact, they are the smartest of the genius type animals. They are my entertainment on many a day. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... _apes.html

The study notes that crows are also social and have unusually large brains for their size. "It is relatively the same size as the chimpanzee brain," the authors said.

They say that crows and apes both think about their social and physical surroundings in complex ways, using tool use as an example.


wow! didn“t knew about it. I guess the closest birds here to cuervos are mirlos and caranchos... but no idea if they are also brainy! :lol:

Ahh Arcadia, nice haiku! (the birds and then the bus lingers in my mind.)

It is true, at least in my opinion, that birds are amazingly smart, smarter than most humans know or give them credit for. They are after all, dinosaurs and have been here evolving a long, long time. And, they can also fly! How cool is that?
