til they "knew" what it meant

then again at work
i speak spanish
the lab lady comes by and says
where's a butterfly? mariposa?
i play flap my butterfly wings
say here i am

but the latino guy from radiology says
latinos think butterfly means
queer
oh dear
so i look at him and wink


the latina lady from lab and me have a friendly joke
the butterfly play
lightens the day
little silk weavings
spinning a coccoon around it all
like you and me

wake up changed and new
