Very recently there was an Iroquois burial mound discovered in High Park, (our version of central park but wilder). Kids were using as a jumping ramp for their mountain bikes.

I have actually brought this issue up with a friend of mine a well regarded native rights activist and general shit disturber who is well connected with all levels of gov't so something will be done.
Sorry to ramble but this is an issue dear to my heart. Here in Canada we have what is called the ministry of Indian and Northern Affairs. It basically treats natives like stewards or children. The natives and many whites, myself included want it abolished, but then the gov't would have to treat these people as nations, and honour the treaties that keep finding their way onto the back burner. The gov't has very cleverly put a native in office as minister of this injustice. There's always one that will look to his pockets before his people.
So there that's my morning rant, now back to my coffee.

"The young natives are getting white man's disease, power and greed!" Running Rabbit, my Mescalero Apache yard man who has a degree in criminal justice. He worked on the "Res" until he could stand the indoors and cubicles and no windows no more. Now he has a trailer and a van and "Runnin' Rabbit Hauls-It-All". We (he and I both love to talk as he works) and discuss the world. Since my heritage is Choctaw (a drop from Indian Territory Oklahoma) and our shared love of nature, we are sympatico.
He is thoroughly disgusted with what is happening not only with the government (no surprises here for him) but sadly, with the young men and women leaving their homes and not looking back or caring about their history or culture.
The Apache's were last to surrender and the government gave them a worthless patch of land (at the time) that is now a ski resort, a huge ass Inn and golf course, etc. But he tells me that their last elected Chief (one of those pocket people you speak of) stole millions off the backs of his own tribe. They now have a woman as leader...and hope for better.
