Haiku before dawn

Post by sooZen » March 8th, 2005, 7:29 am

sliver of moon
through the pine branches
sky pie

...

cloudless night
with fifteen stars-
city smog bank

...

train whistle
off in the distance
a perfect note
Freedom's just another word...

dry elpaso night

before dawn
faint tree shadows on grass
Reveille and goose bumps

Daybreak in my heart
Blazing star in bare tree limbs
Clears my mind of “wore”

Thinking about my misspellings Jimboloco, I realized some of them are from the way I pronounce words with a B’more accent. When I say war it sounds like wore, (rhymes with gore) water sounds like “warter” and I can’t even figure out how to spell oil the way I say it.

But most of the miss spells are just laziness and bad habits, even though I don’t want to be a paperback writer anymore I still should not give anyone a headache trying to decypher my spelling. Just my vanity. "Baltamoron" HL Mencken?

clear city night
east wind blows
a million stars

...

in windy dawn
a doves nest
waves

...

lights of juarez
tremble in the breeze
an aleppo pine dance

ST...I know all about those pronounciation quirks. I am constantly being 'corrected' by mtmynd for saying "warsh" instead of "wash" with a long 'a'. For me, I warsh my clothes, I go to Warshington...so does my mom...it is ingrained.

Peace.

...

mexican poppies
blanket the mountain slopes
butterflies in love

...

tree branches
shake the sky
wind chimes
Freedom's just another word...
