this made me laugh... not with derision, but recognition. I recall a time on my hands and knees in the dead of night trying to retrieve from behind the stove a trap holding a mouse by the leg... but no matter how carefully I tried to extract it, he still managed to pull free, and lived to defecate on my cutting board another day...
