haijin - a cecil viewpoint

haiku is a poem of brevity
one that seemingly eliminates
fascination with adverbs and adjectives
take away those adverbs and adjectives
and you're left with the soul of what
it is you're attempting to express
example -
frog by the pond
the wind blows
croak!
now a poet would put in some of
those adverbs and adjectives
that i spoke of -
the bumpy backed green frog
by the placid moon-reflective pond -
i swear i heard a croak!
but it takes a haijin to do away
with those descripitive dealies -
adverbs and adjectives
which leaves me with the word 'haijin'
if i say that word, 'haijin' it sounds
from where i am like 'high jean'
or more properly,' hygiene', which
i find rather amusing seeing as
the haijin-ist is eliminating those
pesky adverbs and adjectives
so i justly conclude, by way of words
and word sounds, that a haijin
is one that cleans up their poetry
void of adverbs and adjectives
they attain the goal of their pursuit -
a poem void... a haiku... hygienically clean.
the wine speaks
i laugh at the joke
clear of clutter
