every corner
turned
brought you here
I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach 10,000 stars how not to dance.

the thrill of hiking
has always been about what
is around the next bend

that expectation
has been responsible for me traveling
far longer than is reasonsible many a time

this hiker rarely considers
the time nor energy involved in returning
to my transportation home
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

gather in church
a building they tell us
pleases their god

sit stand kneel sit
recite another's words
in a dead tongue

and just maybe
this god will forgive you
or maybe not

OR

lose yourself
in the woods somewhere
and behold

miracles
don't shout "look at me"
they whisper

they abound
in the wild places
just listen...
