The end is where we start from

Post by Doreen Peri » May 14th, 2008, 2:08 pm

"And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time... What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.” – T. S. Eliot

I guess I am too literal minded to get that one.

Must be a metaphor or something

I just don't get it.

It's like... one door closes, one opens.

You can't start something new until you end something else.

It's a spiritual concept... sorta.

Got fired from your job? Now you have free time to get a new one!

Home foreclosure? Well gotta move somewhere new!

The end of something is always the beginning of something new!

YAY!

That's how I read it anyway.

Yes I can that, the end is the begining

But this bit
And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time...
Interesting, but I still don't get that.
Something to cogitate on
going to sleep on it.

My thoughts been playing hide and seek with me all day.

It's the exact same concept. When you are finished exploring something, you start right where you were before: on the threshold of exploring something new. Interesting concept, yes? And it just happens to be how life works too, with a never ending cycle of discovery.
