the direction known
the destination encoded, our destiny
patiently waiting

release my hand to grandmother
as the wisdom of ancients
blesses my human form
surrounding me with all she knows

allow me the privilege
of remaining alive
till we reach grandmother gate
and walk with me

the wisdom of ants
my grandmother spoke
curling her hand in mine
is that they build heaven's gate
and working together
she went on
is how they manage
one crumb at a time
to build the nest
that stands the test of time
they live just to feed the queen
and though each one dies
they live on as a race
and how they find their way back
foraging each day, is a mystery
