Spider God (CTG)

Post by Christopher T. George » July 4th, 2008, 12:37 pm

Spider God

If only I could put my trust in the Lord as others do.
I smoke my cigar by the Station Café's hanging baskets;

ketchup bottles occupy vacant tables in 90-degrees heat;
inside, diners eat; barman shines glasses under Mata Hari's

naked rump; Christian tourbus swings by headed to Capitol Hill,
tourists with tee-shirts that proclaim their love for Jesus,

bleeding hearts with daggers or sad Shroud of Turin faces.
I remember all this as I swig my Imodium cocktail at 3:00 am,

think of the tattooed guy hurrying to his train,
a word on each elbow that said "Spider. . . God."

I'm not much for analysis,Cris, or interpretation, but I do like a piece of work that looks you in the eye straight up with its lines nailed down tight & all pointing toward a specific destination as is happening here. I enjoyed this sparkler & thanks for posting.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

This a reply i posted here and then wimped out and deleted, but mingo give me the audacity to put it back. I liked your post a lot but thought I should say something that sounded like analysis and interpretation. I could not deconstruct myself out of two inches of wet concrete.

deleted post begins here>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Doreen wrote in the introduction to this board

This forum is for posting works of writing. Any kind of writing at all. Poetry. Stories. Essays. Whatever you’d like.
But this is different than other Creative Writing boards.
This isn’t a board for applause. This is a board for Interpretation and Analysis.

Welcome CTG

This is a tough board, but also maybe my favorite one S8.

It is tough because
I am suppose to tell you what this meant to me, and it was not so much the meaning that meant anything, it was the eidetic images your words painted in my mind and the train of my thoughts that followed from them.

"Shroud of Turin faces"
They say it was a fake (the shroud)
I have always hoped it was not
I prefer the image of a mesomorph Christ with the well-developed musculature of a working stiff not the skinny hippy on a Catholic cross.

"Spider God"
the title caught my eye.
Spiders always punch my ticket
My mind immediate flashed back to a drug induced sexual halucination

I fukked a black widow spider once
And a very sweet it was
But I was not nimble enough
So there was no pillow talk

Ketchup bottles in 90 degree heat and imodium cocktails
Mati Hari's ass
enough said.

Faith in the Lord is a wonderful thing
I wimped out long ago.
I chose the faith of a heretic
what's the worst that could happen?
I feel like Woody Allen trapped in the body of The Hairy Ape.
I spend too much time thinking of hideous deaths
They still burn heretics
What a way to go.

I am perpetually virtually misperceiving on study eight
Please pardon this nonsense.
Because
"God is not mocked except by believers"

your title caught my eye...

CTG I am embarrassed about my reply.

"Shrould of Turin faces" that's what really set me off. The spider god thing was just an acid flashback

This bit here from the father of cybernetics seems to say it all for me
"That is, the more probable the message, the less information it gives. Cliches, for example, are less illuminating than great poems."

So much information in so few words, that is a poem for me.
Thanks for writing.

here is more of the quote in context.
Just as the entropy is a measure of disorganization, the information carried by a set of messages is a measure of organization. In fact, it is possible to interpret the information carried by a message as essentially the negative of entropy, and the negative logarithm of its probability. That is, the more probable the message, the less information it gives. Cliches, for example, are less illuminating than great poems.
