I had a profound choice
Get high on life
or get life for my high
fucking drug laws maxed out
habitual criminal no doubt
but I wasn't a thief
those drug laws give me grief
Aint my fault I bought a pound of speed
ten pounds of weed
I believed mass consumption was the american way
but damn did I pay
So I am high on life
no cop and robber strife
but damn a joint would be nice.

elephaant turds
and flying shitting birds
can save me?
a hundred camels in the courtyard
a pipe of kif
the scent of camel poop and pot smoke
a cup of tea
is good enuf
a pot aholic is what i am tho
i did some stretches
and climbed a tree today hee hee heee

and now the great mystery
what next?
crunches!
yoga!
tai chi!
and a bowl of cherries
what life is all about
i agree
and a five AM wake up call
giving blood and tender mercy
while the big guns call the shots
we learn to make our seperate ways count
a new born year
with hope and courage
born out of despair
left behind like all the years
turned into quaint memories
and faint tears
at last a turning
a second wind
wild horses and
rabbits
cactus pears
the waves

and sunlight
makes me feel alright

I could live on that
and ideas

but I don't think I could stop
I'm hopelessly hooked

but I feel alright
anytime, anytime

What day is it? Has a week gone again
by yet without regret or dismay? Has the way
the sun displayed its resilience tempted the
unprepared calendar? Have you jotted down
upside down notes on your palm in order to
see them better when the lights are dim and nobody's
looking within the plans you hadn't yet decided to
plan or have you found the manual to read to
figure out how to bleed cursive out of the well?
What day is it? Do tell me how your pulse justifies
the rush from palm to heart. Could you start
with a first week into January or should you wait
until darts of arrowed grief divvy up the various
colored archery targets in June, each one with stating
a revelation, a slice of moon? What day did creation
begin and when did you decide to take it in like a film,
lying on a couch, pushing dvd remote control button,
cushioned at waist and hip?

Flip a coin and tell me whether your head or
your tale will stick to my pillow... Pull the curtain. Open
it again. Spin dim memories on a top then lop off my ear
so I don't hear myself screaming why not, OK? Play
Misty for me while I practice remembering what you
said you wanted to do before you decided you couldn't
carry through with it since something more or less
beckoned. What day is it? Has another week gone by
flown into the eye of a storm and has the normal meter
blended with background music or are you ready to make
a date with yourself at 10am? Coffee on the veranda.
Exercising your rights. What day is it? What night comes
better, more clear, more viable, more dear? What year
is it? What year?

Name your minute now....
somehow terribly unfortunate
yet completely respected like a second
hand dot on an hour.

It was much better last night.
All my poems need editing.
But how do you edit a clock?

it´s low-flow thursday
after a cool night
sun is already high
(folk music radio interference again in the parlantes
most of them music of mountains and quebradas)
downtown streets and then the plain countryside and a swimming pool
what hour is it?

circular self-editing
is my sort of thing:

crescent moon finger nail clipping
grows day by day, night by night

then falls again from sight
into the black void where

crow lives hidden in thick air
and waits for morning clouds

to lift critical shrouds
from the creative dead

hungry ghost, alive in my head
always ready willing and able

but often quite unstable,
unsteady in his desire

much stronger when I tire
after a long day of working

or a short day of shirking
or a moment of lurking.

The clock, a device to measure time, which is immeasurable
fast and flowing, sometimes a circle sometimes a line
flowing out in all directions but straight into the future.
I edit time careful in thoughts of forever
daydreams make me sleepy wishing they were real
I edit time in my mind with thoughts of yesterdays gone
easy to edit out the times that were sour
to the taste when touched with thoughts
of yesterday’s wine gone bad.
Edit time and dream of the perfect time
w hen love was a rhyme spoken from a lover’s lips
freshly kissed remembering the burning
as passion consumed the time and left you burned
to yearn for time’s gone by and edit time
I will today and leave time for tomorrow
as I live today without looking at a clock
that shackles time viciously into our standards
of living life by the minute.
Give me life by the drop tasted like wine, rare
and divine supped slowly to enhance the pleasure
becoming moments in time will I treasure.

gonna do a croon and some rhyme,
share some ticks and tocks!
man, dis place is gonna rock!
a few jokes, a toast, a coupla quips...
gonna meet that knip
in two thousand and six!
known him since two thousand and one...
that's 5 trips around the sun...
now pretty soon face to face...
man, there's gonna be some dancin'

Ha! Knip! Mr. Knip's gonna make a trio,
(whee-o) with the L-Rod, doreen and alicia gang
ship's gonna capsize
tunes are gonna roll over and reel
in pirate talkin sailor style

landlubber music in subtle sensitivities
no rum, if you please
the guy's got class
the beer steins all glass

What happens when you mix
a canadian club and a virginia crew?

i wanna see, don't you

(yeah, yeah, i'm rhymin - it's doreen's influence - she's spiced the board with couplets)
