when the western sky
wildly enters my inside
i need solitude

solitude quenches that gnawing need
that salty urge

I closed my eyes
to the wide open skies
and was washed away
swept away
floated away
ebbed away
away
away
away
away
away

away

to where my dreams float
beneath the fiery sky
I watch them as them drift by
upon the glimmering sea
sitting atop the backs of manatees

absorb the daylight
as evening kisses the sky

Sunset at Morro Bay California
In the thirty sixth year of my life
all my life on the east coat
Watching the sunrise out of the ocean
such an uncanny feeling to see it sink into the sea.
A little girl told me that there are more stars in the heavens than grains of sand on that beach
Such a wise child



It was the summer of my content
the summer I became a Friend
The last time I saw her alive.

"Cut me loose
let me fly
After all these years
I am still alive"

there is a special glow
as the sun sets to sleep
stretching fingers across the sky
as if to say sweet dreams.

silently the glow fades
as the evening slips away
a gentle kiss good night, a final good-bye,
slipping out of sight before my eyes.
