Hurricane Gilbert’s remnants spawned 29 tornadoes over Texas on September 18th, 1988.

Everywhere I looked there was one, I kept driving looking for someplace to hide.

Tornados look different in west Texas. I have never seen one in a blue sky.

The worse ones were at night. Out in West Texas, they got this thing called a wall cloud. Just blackness on the horizon. And when a bolt of lightning lit up the sky I could see the shape coming out of the wall. Then back to darkness. No idea where they were. All I could think to do was keep on driving. No place to hide.

West Texas jimboloco

I love that picture. Makes me feel homey

But probably not what jimboloco was feeling at the time. He was hard travelling

Twister picked me up
enlisted me like the draft

he was on a war path –
put my head in a spin,
made me end and begin
again and forced me
to be part of destruction

at the junction
of roads when he stopped
reassess his load in order
to combine hot and cold
resources,
i got off

my feet gotta stay grounded.
Twister's got a nasty cough,
spit me out like a virus

got lucky that day.

sometimes storms can pull you
into the eye and defy your desire
to flee but sometimes they
can inspire us

by finally letting us be.

Local news picked up my photos of this unique storm.
And my head swells.

more power to ya richard, that is a good feeling.

I thought it was kind of strange too. The sky seems so blue, I was wondering if it was a water spout.

I am Greta Garbo
I only wish to be left alone
I have the peace of years of solitude
I do not wish to let it go
I do not want to wake next to someone I do not love
And pretend I want to be there

"Lovers who promise forever
Speak mindless of time's constant prowel"

My heart book is balanced
The lust circles me like a storm
But I am calm as the dead in the eye

I lie like a rug

this is one screwed up post  it probably fits some where but not here. an orphan post, I supose I should delete it

Stilltrucking,
The blue sky is an illusion, blue yes but not clear. The blue is dark clouds in the back ground.

A quality shot, (not zoomed) of the tornado. A lot more color and clarity I think.

thunders and strikes yesterday night
summer sunny day only three hours ago
crazy beautiful autumn display
& little problems
like I have to go out now
and I have no idea about what to dress

Ironically, while stuck on the Rappahannock River bridge due to repairs, I couldn't help but notice what seemed to be a severe storm just north of the bridge about to hit White Stone. The approaching storm appeared to be strange and unusually eire casting unique shadowy colors on the river below. Truckers on the CB were reporting fifty mile an hour gusts and large hail. The last place I wanted to be was on top of the rather shaky and high Rappahannock River Bridge. Finally, minutes before the storm hit the traffic was allowed to pass. As I headed for Ware Neck I kept an eye on the sky because I felt this one coming. Shortly after turning on to Highway 33 I noticed a cloud that was pointing down in an unusual way. Within seconds it began to take on the tell tale shape of a tornado. I had no choice but to pull off the road and take a few photos. I watched in amazement for I know fifteen minutes while the funnel warped and swayed. I had become a storm chaser if just for an instant.
The funnel cloud didn't seem to be moving, staying stationary for it's duration. It may have been moving toward or away from me which would give a false appearance of being stationary.
As swift as it formed the tornado faded back into the heavens from which it was spawned while the storm that created the tornado gave Deltaville a good thrashing.

taking a wild ride on the dark and twisted side
the eye of the storm keeps me in tow
ravages all it takes in
and when it's sated it spits out far and wide
danger in the skies
watch
it will come again

Is it just my eyes or do I see some lavender and pink coloring.

there is a softness to the beast
it bekcons forgiveness
for it has lost control of its reason
a reason in a season of insanity
metabolic in its existance
it has no choice but to spawn

fortunately the off spring
do not live for long.

Yes Ann, I played with this one a bit.
It's not natural.

A fracture of nature
unnatural as it seems
the sinister rewards
the builder
leaving empty pockets
and beautiful homes.
