Come stand with me under the ficus tree
let's count the braids
the vines that drip rapunzel speed
Let's take shade and wrap ourselves amidst the branches
This hot day
this sweet lonely day

(~wow~ never seen one so big before ... looks like a rubber tree!)
.... Treat ourselves to the cool
under the leaves
Light shade
every changing hues
Thoughts, sounds
silences – braiding
Simultaneous
roots, earth, tree’s, us
Interplaying …

Ever walked into open arms inviting arms
like sinking into a dream
or so I imagine
I must be delirious
too long without water
too long without shelter
too long without
Yes, I'll sit with you for awhile
on this sweet lonely day
on this sweet lonely day
I'll sit
ponder the hours

and we sit
and the day begins to smile
close to roots
arms around arms
earth smell, good smell

we once rested among the roots of the world's largest ficus tree in the royal botanical garden in kandy, sri lanka; its branches are held up by thick bamboo logs, and it spans over 200 meters.
there even are pictures -- but unfortunately, my camera broke, so i cannot take a digital pic from the original picture.
maybe another time... meanwhile, here's an image i found on the web:

Is there any doubt that trees and mankind are meant for one another? Feel the coolness of shade, the space for our bodies - we embrace one another like old friends.

branch to root
we connect
passover
to resurrection
i am awed by
the intertwining
the resurfacing,
the elder branches,
the soil,
the saplings,
the bark,
the signficance
the honor
