Sontang & Soriano

Post by Arcadia » April 9th, 2006, 11:18 am

well, it's time to be provided by the new generations. While eating pizza and drinking wine last friday I discovered my cousin & boyfriends's book shelves. I chose two, to start.

Susan Sontang, Regarding the pain of others.
They didn't like the book. I found it interesting but a bit repetitive and a/sistematic in the progression of ideas. I remember well a book with photos and documents about the holocaust during WWII. The most impresionante for me were deposit photos with thousands of glasses, dentaduras and ortopedic legs. Interesting what she said about photos, memory, distance and selection. I think that in an era of sobresaturation of images, only images as way of concientization are not enough.

Osvaldo Soriano, Una sombra ya pronto seras.
I'm in page 40, until now a kind of anti/road novel. The principal caracter is not young, he has no money and he has no car. In a vague mood he wants to go to the south/west. He's somewhere in the south of Buenos Aires now.

page 71 of Soriano's book. More personajes. Fellinesque atmosphere a la criolla. Adivination, a flood and numbers.
