Richard Brautigan
...Rommel drives on deep into egypt has been my constant companion for the last month and the words never cease to amaze me.....ya know I've read RB sporatically over the last 30 or so years with a sense of wonder.....his novels always took me to another world, beyond ours.....now I've "Really" gotten into his poetry, the pill versus the springhill mine disaster is the other book of poems i have and it's right by my bedside too!.....just wonderin who else out there is struck by him as much as i am.....mark
I discovered him in a Half-Price Books ... gotta be at least 30 years ago.
Although his poetry is great, I prefer his prose.
Trout Fishing In America never fails to re-adjust my priorities when life in the suburbs gets too suburban for my tastes.
I've always thought that anyone who likes Brautigan should also like Edward Abbey ... but that doesn't necessarily hold true.
