Town And City
Town And City
JK could be so sacherin sweet and sentimental about small town life..........
Kerouac is one of those people, I've been realizing, who thought he'd be happier being where ever (and whoever) he wasn't.
In the city, he dreamt of the mountain. On the mountain, he dreamt of the city. Etc.
I still love the writing when it really gets going, but when he writes about the apparently inherent nobility about living in a small town, or especially when he wishes he'd been born a Negro, I kind of cringe.
