Good ole' Neal Cassidy

Just rented "the last time I committed suicide". Lrod had asked Denese what it was like to live with Neal and being that she had never seen this movie, and only read on the road once many years ago, I thought she'd enjoy it. (I've seen it an infinite number) My question is.......
What'd you think of this movie?
Do you know of any other movies about the beats?
Why the hell is this genre so passed up in the cinema world?

Yes I do have a copy of the movie and I'd say it's good.
Check out "The Source" a documentary on the history of the Beat Generation.
"Drugstore Cowboy" not really about the Beat Generation but William S. Burroughs the author of "Naked Lunch" shows up in it. This is a very good movie by director Gus Van Sant. I was told by Jim Furnish that Van Sant lives the area where you are right now.
Speaking of William S. Burroughs, there is his experimental film called,"The Cut - Ups." It might be out on DVD because I saw it on YouTube.
"Fried Shoes,Cooked Diamonds" which I've not seen but I believe shows varies Beat Authors reading their poetry. There is some clips of it over on YouTube. Matter of fact I think someone may have posted a clip of here on Studio 8. I recall it had Gregory Corso on it recited his famous "Bomb" poem.
There is another film called "Pull My Daisy" which Jack Kerouac wrote the dialog and is narrating it in the movie. I believe I saw it over on YouTube as well. But find a copy of it on DVD the quality will be better.
As to why it's passed up. I would say not passed up just not look at all that often like it should be.
