Shakespeare & Poe

Post by Arcadia » October 27th, 2007, 9:24 am

I have to read King Lear and William Wilson focusing in making a comparison about the "double" figure in the two texts for next monday in two pages  . Our professor started his first class saying "the other is not other I" (el otro no es otro yo) and go on and on about it. I´ll tell you next week if I could follow the instructions

Los Otros
por Pablo Neurota

el otro no es otro yo.
pero
el "yo" no es otro tu.
Yo soy otro usted.
Yo somos otros ustedes.
pero
No soy nosotros.
Nosotros es otro el.
Nosotras es otra ella.
Nosotras no somos nosotros.

Yo no soy tu.
pero
No soy yo
tambien.
Adios mio.

Adios rio.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

I never read that Neruda´s poem (or I don´t remember reading it), thanks!! things are slow here... I´m now re-reading the class notes and I didn´t re-read yet the only book that I have that can be more or less a bibliografía for that point.

William Wilson is cool, tho' lesser known. Also Hopfrog. Amontillado. Usher. others. and TK's fave, Masque of the Red Death. The Feds should make EAP's B-day a national holiday.

William Wilson not his better tale in my humble opinion... too much explicit and didactic.

Not a Neruda poem!

Pablo Neurota.

He's his neurotic doppelanger.
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

Pablo Nerdruda! Yay.

Poe's Hawthorne analysis also entertains a bit. EAP probably the more authentic scholar of the two, though lacking the connections that Nate had. Another interesting piece of Poe Americana: the Business Man, EAP's slice and dice of Ben Franklin.
