Last Tango In Paris

Post by stilltrucking » December 15th, 2004, 4:54 am

the diff between Stone & Kubric
one graphic and visceral
one stylistic and layered

it's like the diff between green and purple
both good colors
Not sure which is which. You say stylistic, that to me would be Platoon, you got your hero and your villian. Full Metal Jacket not so simplistic.

Maybe it is the difference between the Marines and the Army. I thought it interesting that the Marines had to serve one day longer on their tour then the Army. That was their reward for being Marines.

I miss surfermike. I hope he is still kicking

Dave I am going to get to the connection, for now the only connection is they are both movies.
and the connection is testosterone. Kill it or Fuck it.

Sorry I can't tell you more
going to post some more
soon
it is a work in progress.
Perezoso tells me I am not logical cause I can't speak Spanish. Go figure that out? I suppose I like to connect some dots, challenge myself, like one of those story challenges on the old litkicks. Right a story about movies, lsd, sex, spiders, abortion, elephants, the road, women haters, mama's boys, daughters and true love. I will holler at you with big HEY DAVE LOOK AT THIS post when I have more. Maybe I will never have more, but that is what I have tonight.

I used to have a girl friend that got a lot of ideas from movies. Last Tango In Paris and The Trip, those two were responsible for the two best orgasms I have ever had. But to be honest, they were not worth the cost.

I never see surfermike post anymore, just thought of him and the post he made to likicks about the time he saw god on a fire base in Viet Nam, no mystery I just miss the guy. I miss his posts, but I always wondered about his and Pellerino's flame wars, of course it ain't hard to pick a fight with her, but mike used to really set her off almost as much as I did.
Now that I have made all this clear as mud, is there anything else you want to know?

here is a little more Dave

When I titled the post Last Tango In Paris I was half joking, but also wondering how those two movies could relate, despair and war, suicide and death. images in my mind of Viet Nam, and a night in Silver Spring Maryland high on acid and fucking listening to T Rex, the war so many images of the war, Surfermike how he could piss the women off, he always seemed to be saying "that was passive agressive, and me the woman hater that I used to be,
Last Tango In Paris now I am working from a memory that is thirty two years old, but it seems to me that the movie opens with the despair of a man whose wife has just committed suicide , mine started with an abortion, the guy who wrote the novel that Full Metal Jacket was based on had a phrase like vonneguts "so it goes"
his phrase was "there it is" the dualities on the end of our fork

surfermike was always getting at me for my selfpity, but I was not a good friend because I never kicked him when he was down, I let him slide on his own self pity because he was my hero.

yeah this is about what it is to be a man, and so much of that is how we deal with women.
