A Readin fool

Post by hester_prynne » July 26th, 2008, 1:28 pm

I've been reading so much lately...it keeps me safe from my powerlessness right now....
D.Parker, Didion, O'Conner, Percy, many many women's pieces, many i'd never heard of before. I have to report though, after just finishing Alcott's buried tale "A long fatal love chase"...for I am reeling over it, I fancy she wrote it when she was "Jo's" age and it is a marvel, worthy of a movie, worthy of being a required read by all folks living with love's violence in their lives, a story of Tempest and Roseamond, thrilling, and oddly enough, much of it fitting to the norms of today, although when she wrote it it was banned as too awful to be published.
I highly recommend it, I got totally lost in it and i'm sorry to come out of it.

Hester,

Thank you for these recommendations. You should write book reviews.
Art cannot be modern.. Art is primordially eternal.
