Litkicks Action Poetry

So I finally got my copy, and I was paging through it this morning on the way to work.
I have to say, what a bunch of lowlifes. Fornication, drugs, poetry.

I thought I elected George W Bush to put a stop to this kind of immorality.
What about some nice poems about the moon, or sunsets?

That rhyme? How about some nice stories about a minister who lives in a nice little town, and he talks to the people about the goings on in their lives? What about some chicken soup for my soul?
Actually, I find it much easier to sit back and enjoy these in paper form rather than reading it off a screen. I don't know why that is. At first glace it looks like there is a pretty good representation of Litkicks's many faces.
I did notice one thing though; why is what was originally an action poetry thread, jota's "Sold My Summer" and firecracker's "Stole My Summer" seperated by a number of pages? And Lrod's and Doreen's respective "The Poet's Dirty Socks?"
I know a great deal of thought went into the editing of this, but I wonder why the interaction between the writers in the above cases wouldn't be played up more, especially since the collaborative aspect was played up in the introduction?
Either way, it's nice to see a lot of good stuff that I didn't catch the first time.
I guess the fact that I'm more willing to read stuff that's been filtered by editors rather than wading through the litkicks poetry page says something regarding my opinion of the whole gatekeepers vs. total free speech debate, but that's another issue.
hey

Hi shamatha!
Good to see you here!.... Yeah, I was baffled by the separation of the pieces which were companion pieces, too. I got an email that said they were going to publish one of my pieces. I emailed back and asked which one and eventually found out it was my repartee piece to LR's The Poet's Dirty Socks, so I told them it really wasn't a stand-alone piece and should be printed right after LR's piece but they told me they weren't going to publish LR's piece. *shrug* I donno...I had the book for about a week before I noticed that they DID publish LR's piece but mine is located somewhere else in the book. Beats me why they didn't put them together, even after I mentioned it. But whatever. I agree, it's good to hold the book in your hands. It's an entirely different thing than reading off the screen. I like the Action Poetry book. I think they did a good job and there's a lot of fine writing in there to read. I wish there was an index, though.
Geoff - Yep, you're in there somewhere. I don't know where, though, yet. I just looked your name up in the back of the book. You are listed as - "Geoff Parsons (jojo) is a 21-year old aspiring writer from Halifax, Nova Scotia." But I can't find your piece. There's no index, no page number associated with your name. I'll leaf through and see if I can find it. If there were typos, I'm sure they fixed them. I would think so, anyway.

I'm more into internet publishing for now. I love the idea that the whole world can read what's on the net. And the first publication is OUT!
Read it right here

But also, in regards to print, I do have what I think would be a really good idea for a book. Snippets. Yep. I think it would be great to publish a book with a variety of short, firsthand accounts of people's lives. Little true stories. Mini-memoirs.
To all - Add yours today to the Snippets forum. Maybe one day we'll get a collection of them and publish them in print. Who knows?
I know a literary agent who says that memoirs are big sellers right now. Publishers are buying them like mad. You know why? 'Cause people are nosey creatures and they wanna read the down and dirty details of other people's lives.
Maybe we could all capitalize on the vermin.
LOL!
Whaddya think?

has anyone actually seen the Litkicsks book in like an actual store or is the book only available on-line by ordering off the Litkicks site (the great irony of the bug leap from the internet to the 'real world.')
'cause I haven't, and i've looked for it. (occasionally.
somewheres.)

as you may note, a "big leap" is just a typo away from a "bug leap."
