Caprichos: in the first scene, the driver-naive, good-natured, probably illiterate, Soren Kierkegaard quotes. La cita tiene lugar durante una riña de gallos, en medio de una nada pétrea. The event takes place during a cockfight in the midst of stony nothingness. ¿Será esa nada la que invita a citar al más famoso predecesor del existencialismo? Is that anything that invites the most famous quote predecessor of existentialism? Más posiblemente sea la muerte a la que la cita alude: ya en la escena de su presentación, Mamo aparece acostado en la tumba que previsoramente se cavó. En el último tramo, el leve realismo mágico que hasta entonces teñía la película (incluyendo dos o tres sueños o visiones por parte del anciano) da lugar a lo que puede verse como una forma de intrusión divina.
