Fruitvale Station (film)

This film is different from most of the summer SF-fantasy stuff out there right now. It's about the life of a man, the last day of his life, and it is based on a true story. The film lets you know from the start he's going to die at the end, so that's nothing given away. It is more about who he is, and what it feels like to be him. I found it fascinating.

...(Coogler) expressed his desire to make a film about Grant's last day,"I wanted the audience to get to know this guy, to get attached, so that when the situation that happens to him happens, it’s not just like you read it in the paper, you know what I mean?"
another film I would like to see.

You should see it. That description really fits the film well, and gives nothing away. The power of the film is the experience of the main character. It is very well done, and I hope this director sticks around a long time.
