http://bookcrossing.com

Are any of you familiar with this?

I'm awed by this!

This is a huge international endeavor with loads of participants!

I love this concept!

Like your artistic problem

Post by lescaret » March 16th, 2005, 8:41 am

Ha, Doreen! I experienced your artistic problem in connection with the bookcrossing project. When I first heard about it I got all excited, joined, dropped off a paperback copy of On The Road in the Porter SQ subway stop in Cambridge, MA - and then promptly lost interest in the whole thing, never went to a meeting or followed up to see whatever became of that copy of OTR.

That said, this IS a cool thing. Fascinating, really, a classic endeavor for the internet age.

Similar, in a way, to the 1000journals project.

Reminds me of a hostel in which I stayed in Scotland. A bookshelf in the common room for this express purpose. Can't carry too many books around while backpacking, after all. Pick some up. Leave some behind. Great stuff. Very karmic.

Amazing!
I just joined as hesterprynneone because someone took my name already!
Funny thing is, I had one of these books that i found at a no buy day swap a few months back...I just never went there, until I saw you recommend it Doreen.
Thanks!
It is a great concept.
