The Devil Came To Ware Neck

Often when I get bored, I surf the old Litkicks board archives for some old poem I wrote to bring back to lifeh ere on Studio Eight. For those of you unfamiliar with litkicks.com (none of you, but just in case) it's obviously a literary site, where you could come and showcase, discuss, critique and have fun with fellow writers and artists who'd congregated there. It no longer hosts the borads such as the ones erected here because they are "working on more structured forms of poetry"really, I think they were just tired of dealing w/"troubklemakers", and "rough subject matter" in poetry. Anyway, Levi Asher is founder and "lord" of the site. He wrote a few poems I enjoyed, but for the most part, I stuck to the writers who were "below litkicks royal ranking". It waso n this site that I met Doreen Peri, (ain't she great?) and came here. Anyway... returning to the original point, I found this piece by Sober duck in the January of 2004 archives and would like to share it w/you all... it's good. Hope you don't mind Sober.

The devil came to Ware Neck disguised as helping hands
Taking care of the elderly wasn’t in the plans
Thievery and deceit was the order of the day
While the helpless watched the money mysteriously go away
Sweet nothings were whispered into ears of gullibility
And scams pulled on vulnerability
But angels blew in with the most violent of storms
Hope shows up in many forms
The devil left town with a hurricane
Leaving behind disaster just the same.
