I recommend this one...great film...all dialogue in Vietnamese...simple presentation of storyline provided fluid motion/rhythm which, in turn, created viewing ease ...calming, relaxing...tame...character appreciation for life resonated with me in a very big way...
yeah, do go out and rent it

Love this film. Just exquisite. And the delicious photography, the flow of the camera.
Good choice, AQ.

rock on Judih
note: movie title is "The Scent of A Green Papaya" not "The Scent of The Green Papaya" ...had to nitpick on myself for that one...

when i saw the film, the title was in French so 'the/a' is pas d'importe to me, anyway.

I saw the film awhile back, had a video tape of it. Alas no more.
I don't think it was so much about art and aesthetics versus bourgeois meterialism as it was about being sensitive and kind, the true aesthetic. It certainly effuses with a mood, dreamy.
