Martin Scorses's "Bob Dylan - No Direction Home"

Oh sweet "mymymy" ... today's S8 guitar banner is a perfect intro to ...

The new Martin Scorsese 2 Disc Picture Bob Dylan - No Direction Home which is now out in video stores. I'm not sure if it's out for rental ... I hope so -- cuz it's not to be missed.

I learned so much from watching this DVD and my favorite parts was watching Dylan's genius "in action" as he handles stupid questions put to him in clips they have of old interviews.
It was fun watching this with my 14 year old son: this film offering him his first visual & sound taste of "beat poetry' and coffee houses and what it was like 'back then.' Also offering a deepening exposure to our struggles with racism, Vietnam, and what we were up against at the time.
This kind of visual/music exposure of history works well with this new generation; and with my son (who’s jazz oriented) – Scorsese’s inclusion of Billie Holiday singing “Strange Fruit” and other brief clips showing the side by side nature of Jazz with folk worked/explained things well. That there was more than one direction changes were coming through.
Dylan's words, work - "Old" as they are - still spoke clearly to this (my son and this) generation. Dylan is an example of what it means to live 'in the now' -- while following 'your bliss/passions. (as Joseph Campbell says...)
If you haven't seen this film yet ~ do so ... and to tempt you even more here's a link to the main website with more info and some clips - and it's also where I got the Dylan image above... check it out.
