blues form as in a fixed form of time and space, each poem fitting onto one of his notebook pages instead of notes into 12bar blues form. also themes or structure or sound or noise strung from one verse to next, one riff repeated or expanded.

best read in large doses, getting in the mood and midst of it. most of jacks writing is personal anyway, mostly his attempts to capture his own mind experience.

Mex City Blues is like an 'advanced' read or else its nonsensical.
best to begin with Book of Blues, and to return to it also!
the style is jazz than blues; or jazz-blues.
