brilliant. this guy is my hero, i have to admit. when he dies i am going to wear black for 40 years. my fantasy is to go back in time 40 yrs to have him punch me in the nose at the white horse.

there are 4 men to whom i am going to send a hardcover of my first published novel:

kerouac's grave - taught me how to trust myself
bob dylan - taught me how to have fun
bruce springsteen - got me thru my childhood
norman mailer - taught me how to write, among other things i'd never admit to.

i just hope it gets to mailer's mailbox instead of his grave. shit, i gotta get moving on that.

lemme see if i got this straight. you're gonna send one book to a dead guy, two to musicians and one to an octogenarian.

nice.

how bout shooting one my way? i mean with all the entertainment i've provided you for the past several years, the laughter, the tears. the pirated britany spears cd's. the william hung collector's edition dvd. not to mention all of the Juggs and Hot Mamma magazines i've loaned you for your "research."

and this is the thanks i get? nothing?

that's it. we're done. send me back my magazines, man. just send them back.

well. you are supposed to buy one, fool. you and my parents. thats all i got right now. if i sell two copies, i can afford to buy 4 more. thats the plan.

and about those magazines, well, i'm not sure you want them back anymore. i was without the internet for a few months last year and had to go 100% analog, as it were. it was...messy.

I remember reading some of Advertisements for Myself in my college existentialism class, but that's all I remember. I've never read any of his fiction, and I got maybe 50 pps into The Spooky Art before putting it aside. I want to like him, but I'm not sure if I do.
