Opening a Door
again
opening a door
releasing a child
watching him set off
bags filled with shirts
jeans rolled
soccer socks bulging
duffel bag pillowed and plump
opening my heart
enlarging my oh-zone
my hug encompassing distance and space
mourning what's over
cheering what's promised
gulping down this shock of a day
Rahm, 15, is leaving this area, going to another school, living in a dorm, playing soccer with a youth team in Netanya.
Today's the day. This morning's the morning.
It's always been his dream. He's attracted the circumstance, earned respect and recognition and he's ready for this.
I'm not exactly a wreck, but in a minute I'll be crying.
Separation from a child hurts. I praise his courage and admire his special personality. He is so very much who he is.
And I love him.
wanted to put it down here, inner jam.
