Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
Cartesian nightmares and teenage comic book crap
A purpose driven life
got to have goals
so what is next
halfway to there
I am starting to wonder
what then
I want to leave a beautiful space where I used to be and not a vacant lot
not even a cemetery plot
a hundred miles this week and the weight is falling off, so if get down to my younger weight I wonder what will happen to all the skin that used to cover the fat.
I imagine myself in new clothes,
that cheers me up
maybe then I will have the confidence to find another job, or finish my novel... I am writing a novel, well not so much a novel as a diet book, a self help book on how to be your own life coach.
where do the children play now
I want to get lost in their future

Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
I don't know myself anymore
I lost something besides the fat
222.4 pounds down from 264 two months ago
the fire down below is still smoldering under all this weight still to go
how sweet it is to be a manchild in the promised land
here in the garden of the paradise of the republic of texas where the devils in blue dresses dance for joy
when Eve first bit
but I did not
I ate a peach instead of an apple
I don't want no stinkin fruits of knowledge
what is it they know and we don't care to know too
the pure light of feminine reason
scares the bejeezus out of me

Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
three days without a bike and my weight went up two pounds, obsessing on my weight like an anorexic teenage girl.Savage Judaism
Judged by reason, Judaism, savage religion, and even Christianity were all cut from the same cloth of superstition. For theistic philosophes, reason supported natural religion, but not the rituals and dogmas of specific religions. That flattening of religion was basic to the Enlightenment view of religion, given classical expression in Kant’s Religion Within the Bounds of Mere Reason.
Believers responded to this relativization of Christian and Jewish claims in various ways, each a strategy to protect Christianity or Judaism against the solvents of comparison.

These strategies should not be used to address a child’s biting habit.
Avoid labeling a child as a “biter.” Negative labels can affect how you view your child, and even affect the child’s feelings about him- or herself.
Never bite a child back to punish or show him how it feels to be bitten. Biting a child sends the message that using violence is an acceptable behavior that can be used to solve problems.
Avoid getting angry, yelling, or shaming a child.
Avoid giving too much attention to a child who bites after an incident. While this is usually negative attention, it can still reinforce the behavior and cause a child to repeat it.
Do not force a child who bit and the child who was hurt to play together.
Do not punish children who bite. Punishment does not help children to learn discipline and self-control. Instead, it makes children angry, upset, defiant, and embarrassed. It also undermines the relationship between you and your child.

The same trip now for forty some years
Starting in 1972
Amor fati
and every time that wheel goes round
bound to cover a little more ground
just call me billy the kid
cause I shot a dog yesterday
a good dog
smartest dog I have ever know
shot him with my cold forty five
got to love them typos
and he came back this morning in the dark out of nowhere in a hit and run guerrilla attack
on my ankules
I wonder what's happening on studio eight today
not much probably
that's why I love this place

Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
Still Trucking,
I am proud of your efforts to lose weight. I, too, have been trying to.
Your mileage is more impressive, because your body has more mileage than mine.
I also exercise for weight loss, like you do. Pulling away from portions at the
dinner table is a pain.
This is my sixty-fifth summer. I now weigh 245 pounds. I need to get down to
two hundred pounds also. I once weighed 268 lbs.
Thing is, it is hard to lose weight when one has adult onset
diabetes. I found out I had it around eight years ago.
Look forward to hearing from you again, on either my Column, or my Artlog.
I welcome comments & I miss you at Studio Eight. Studio Eight recently had a tenth
birthday, & I heard Doreen is thinking about publishing another book with input from
any of us who wants to submit stuff.

Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
I was born in 1940, I been filling out a lot of job applications these days and I was putting my age down as seventy-four but then I realized I am still only seventy-three because my birthday is in December. Duh me, but it cheered me up because I feel like I had gained another year
Worse thing about old age for me is anticipating the demise of all my loved ones (how many buttons am I missing on that shirt )
I used to pray I would die before them so I would not have to mourn. I think I still pray that although I am more scared of dying then I used to be. Or maybe I just have more courage these days to admit it. One of my siblings tells me that we have eternal life through the Christ Jesus, I would like to believe that too. But I hope that does not mean I will have to remember my social security number in the life to come after this one.
Thanks for the kind words. I owe my weight loss to Studio Eight and my Schwinn™
Some people ride to live, I ride to eat
I think the secret is exercise, the more I ride it the more I can eat and still lose weight. I am down from 265 to 206. But my height is shrinking too, I used to be 5'11" now I am barely 5'10"
I miss constantine, lrod, zlatko.
and Marge
I had not heard about Doreen's new book. I hope she does it. We could have a wonderful book on just the Studio Eight "Pips" as Clay used to call them.

My PipsAnyway, I call all my dead friends my Pips
they stand behind me and do the oohs and ahs and snap their fingers
and do the fancy step where they whisper in my ear: "You're livin' for me now.
"Life goes where the new forms are, so yur not gonna have, uh, uh'mean y'might as well, er all this, uh this is all Hindsight that yur talkin' 'bout. It's already too late... Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassady conversation
Re: The Studio Eight Diet™
Ride that windspinner, Jack T, ride & ride - still riding here too - I didn't start off doing it for weight loss but for the joy of it but I knew because I do it everyday & most evenings that I would some weight would come off - I began this season the first week of April at 188# - at my VA physical in June I was 176# - today @ 166# - I ain't changed what or how I eat - just added two wheels & pedals to the mix - had the rear sprocket on the Tripel swapped out in June - the one it came with was too small and meant for a much younger man - man, the bike would trash me going up hills or into the wind - the new sprocket is bigger - lowers the gear ratios on the 3 speed hub straight acrss the board - the gears are still "tall" but much easier to pedal - I get a headwind now I drop into 2nd & pedal on easy - my other bike the Coyote has a 21 gear derailer setup - on that bike it don't matter what situation comes up you got a gear for it - ah sweetness & light - glad to hear you're riding yet - so I'm a bit confused - you get your bike back? last I heard you said it was in the shop - neighbor here got a new bike - a hybrid with 21 or 24 gears - has those trigger shifters - she let me try it out - sweet for sure - the bike is a hybrid - cross between a road bike & a mountain bike -
lightweight - upright riding position - comfortable saddle - not skinny tires but not fat either -trigger shifters - all the good stuff - from Trek bike company - good stuff though I know it cost - still, with the way it rode I'd say it was worth it - I will be looking into a hybrid sometime in the future - catch ya later Jack T - ( I've added a vid here you might like - you and I ride for fun, joy, health, weight loss but there is larger things going on out there in the world concerning bikes - it's interesting stuff - still between you and me i'm still going to get raccoon tails for my bike and...more lights!
