I keep him on a little pedestal there on the dashboard of my truck

a mantra
of insignificance

My people
every body must get stoned

my people
get it while you can

My people
Canaries in a coal mine

My chosen people
road kill on the road to Emmaus

Put a nickel on the drum
Next door
In Baltimore
Holly Rollers
African rhythms
Drum and tambourine

July 1914 Anna Akhmatova

I

All month a smell of burning, of dry peat
smoldering in the bogs.
Even the birds have stopped singing,
the aspen does not tremble.

The god of wrath glares in the sky,
the fields have been parched since Easter.
A one-legged pilgrim stood in the yard
with his mouth full of prophecies:

“Beware of terrible times… the earth
opening for a crowd of corpses.
Expect famine, earthquakes, plagues,
and heavens darkened by eclipses.

“But our land will not be divided
by the enemy at his pleasure:
the Mother of God will spread
a white shroud over these great sorrows.”

that little church
a row house really
near the corner of eastern and caroline
between my grandmother's house and the junk yard.

No drums
just a tambourine.
music made me happy

I need more Buddhist platitudes I think.

Thanks for reading
That kiwi makes me happy
I would be hard pressed to say
why
such a noble bird
a heart as fierce as T Rex

signing off with a
"chee-chee squawk!"

My People

The night is beautiful,
So the faces of my people.
The stars are beautiful,
So the eyes of my people.
Beautiful, also, is the sun
.Beautiful, also, are the souls of my people.

Florida a state so unique
I can see those ominous long low skies

I can hear the thunder of artillery
The falling rockets
and the people
shell shocked and mangled
calling out to God for revenge

I am glad I got to see Florida
I am happy I read your poem

I am struck by the lack of compassion
of a cluster bomb
delivered in God's name
"God is not mocked except by believers" Anne Sexton?
Florida a state so unique
I can see those ominous long low skies
I am glad I got to see Florida
I am happy I read your poem

I would someday like to visit
The Holy Land Experience Theme Park located in Florida.

When her children went to see her at the nursing home for little old jewish ladies she always said "so long" to them when they were leaving. And they always said so long to her in reply.

I could see the sadness in their faces, that they knew each so long they said to each other could be the last thing they ever said to each other.

I wish I had done more for her.

Such a strong woman, the most powerful woman I have ever met. To see her so helpless was sad. The only one of her children who could have helped her was ashamed of his Polish peasant mother, she did not fit into his wife's life style. So he took his anger out on me. The last time I really cried, bawled like a baby. was on November 22, 1984 when he called to harangue me for being such a failure. This was the night of my mother's funeral.

I forgave him long ago. I could see how he suffered from guilt about his own mother. I think it helped him to hear me cry like that.

So I say so long studio eight
so long
Cause I just don't know anymore
so long
seems like such a good way to say it

so long for now.
"so long and thanks for all the fish" DNA

Mississippi Appendectomy.
She went into the doctor for a cold and came out with a Mississippi appendectomy.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... pendectomy
Apparently the practice was still going on well into the 1960's.

So everone has appologized for the holocaust of the Jews. I am glad we got that out of the way.

Now we can appolgoize for the black holocaust.
