...

my fear of myself

in all my years
I have hit four people
I wonder why so few?

Considering the anger in me.

Don't know
I am just writing this stuff, not entirely sure where I came up with that number.

I got some spooky memories popping out of a remote corner of my brain.

This one is the first one that came a couple years ago,

In baltimore in the late forties was an elementary school situated next to a scrap metal yard. Mountainous piles of shredded metal. One day three boys were having a fight. Well actually one boy was trying to instigate a fight with another boy. The third boy was the kid brother of the one who was being picked on.

Just at that moment a jagged shard of steel slithered down the side the pile and slide under the chain link fence that separated the scrap yard from the school yard.

Made for a nice sword.

Grist for the mill

well the silence is sweet here
in new berlin.

see ya round

PS # 2, On the corner of Pratt St and Central Ave.
The junkyard was next door on Central Ave.

Some fuzzy memory of being in the principal's office, with another kid whose arm was bleeding.

Listened to a book on tape, The Killer Inside Me Jim Thompson. Spooky.

Somewhere down the line I lost my taste for violence. If I would have hit Joey that day I don't think I would be over that yet.

I always been a sucker for confessional poetry.

The junk yard is gone now but putting schools next to junk yards is still a common practice in poor areas. In Texas they build them next to refineries and former toxic waste dumps

thanks for reading dino

no place like home.

I am a real city hick

I used to spend a lot of time in the library up the block from the junk yard. It was still there twenty years ago but closed. Big Doric columns out front.

I used to have to cut through little italy on my way to school. Cross the street when I got to St Leo's Catholic Church cause the nuns in their black witch robes scared the bejeezus out of me thanks to my bubbie's trading old wives tales about the evil eye.
