But while Nietzsches writings are often blasphemous, this does not mean that Christians should ignore his insights. Rather than dismissing his critique, we should ask ourselves if he may have something to say to the church. Perhaps we need to be reminded that Jesus harshest words were directed toward those who put on an impressive outward show of religiosity, but whose hearts were not right with God. We need only read Jesus letters to the seven churches in Revelation chapters two and three to see that some of His most severe rebuke is found there, directed towards His own. Unfortunately, one major school of interpretation has determined that the seven churches represent different ages of church history, of which the first five have already transpired. This interpretation tends to distance us from the Lords rebuke, as if evangelicals are the praised church of Philadelphia, and the lukewarm Loadiceans are the apostate church of the end-times. It is no wonder that we reject the blistering critique of someone like Nietzsche when we comfort ourselves by assuming that the "gentle" Jesus would never speak harshly to us!

According to the way it is written in Revelations John was directed by Jesus to write these seven letters to the angels of the seven churches. Each letter is prefaced by the words: "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write:" - "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write:" etc. This was a post-resurrection appearance of Jesus to John.

After I posted I reread it again and noticed the reference to Revelations.

I am an ignorant child I know so little scripture.

Luke and Hebrews the only parts of the N.T. I have read. I been looking for a book I read thirty three years ago(best guess) By A man named Moon. James I think. A thin book about a 100 pages. The subject was the Quaker Belief in Holy Spirit baptism. A hundred pages of Bible references. Not kidding much, seemed like every page had ten references to Holy Scripture.
So I have jumped around in the N.T. quite a bit but not read cover to cover...

I got to get back to you on that. My back is killing me and it is agony to sit still for long. Sometimes a death ray is your best weapon against cyber attacks.
I got warped sense of humor Ming, I got from my father before me. My mother's sense of humor was pretty strange too.

I saw this Cartoon when I was a kid, I been looking for it on the net for years.

I finally found it today. I forgot the magic word to google for it was
"Fiddlesticks" I think that is going to be one of those meme thingies for me. I will probably use it ever chance I get.

Name of previous thread was All Google. For a few anxious moments there my father's pack of beagles from 1957 was chasing down a rabbit in my head as I was trying to remember what the name of the thread was. We did do some work there concerning Googlebots & Tucumcari, New Mexico.
