Vela, still flowing towards Vela
the flow accelerates

we should have had the debate in 2002 but the opposition was cowed, the old marine said indignantly. He was speaking of our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The pundits saying it is time for a debate about Afghanistan, this after Obama tripled" our forces there.

And
Syria
and Bosnia
two dots on a map the pundits speak of
so many pundits so wrong so many times
but they go on thinking for us

hurts me to think so much

give me a beat girls to free my soul

Are women more easily cowed than men
I wonder

How many thoughts can sit on the head of an old fucking fool

afghanistan or syria
the world is in a mess
the opposition cowed
the old marine said
indignantly

the universe this one that is
is expanding expanding faster and faster
nobody knows why
dark energy maybe
or maybe homo sapiens (thinking man)
been thinking too much
we fill/inflate the universe with our thoughts
the dark energy is the energy we expend in thought

like a hot air balloon expanding till it ends in a big bang
smarter men than me have hypothesized an eternal return
why the hell not
like hurry hurry on the Nirvana express

I will be seamless and dreamless
I will be whole
from pole to pole
from life to death

the world will stumble through
children will die
the price of gasoline will go sky high
life will go on
with me or without me
with us without us

one two three four
what are we fighting for
survival of the witness to the scared shitless

my mind jumps on fear like a dog on a bone
tearing the meat out of it till all is shinny bone

I am
Running for a bus
I missed
Waiting for a train
that left the station
Living on borrowed time
Sweet as it is
What the hell is my hurry.
My name maybe legion.
Clueless after all these years

Is it still March?

The will of man will be done
Wars will be won
After all it is a man's world
Woman got her own will too maybe
Hard to tell anymore
She has so many choices to make
Nietzsche died for nothing I suppose

Is it poetry or Memorex
or commentary
beats me

Move over Venus tell Tchaikovsky the news
rock and roll is here to stay
nothing to fear but
Chantilly lace and a pretty face

Sorry but I gotta try
that's all there is for me any more
this and the tender indifference of the stars
I bequeath myself to the dirt to grow from the grass I love,
If you want me again look for me under your boot-soles.

I been trying to write an ode to Alamo Plaza the happy tourists from overseas and the ungly americans, the street people the homeless legless heaps of flesh in their power wheel chairs.
I work on one of those double decker buses from London, converted to a site seeing bus in san antonio texas. The owner is from Essex. Please pardon this idiosynchratic ramble. Nothing to do with your poem, your ode. I know nothing about poetry or what an ode is, but you blew me a way with your poem.

making dots connect, subjective idosynchratic but not idiomatic
most of all the children
the babies in strollers
& the grotesque in their power wheel chairs
can the human body be grotesque
is it in the eye of the beholder

Thx for your response on the poem Jack. Answering to it here because I didn't want to bump the poem again. I'm headed to bed, if the outage at work does not end soon I'm gonna be a cripple.

Connecting dots that are not there. Poetry so much like lsd for me, it trips me.
sets up associations that have nothing to do with what the poet was writing about.

for some reason the idiomatic expression "picking and grinning" comes to mind

I always look forward to replies
thanks mingo :)
I keep thinking most of my posts are idiotomatic.

Like the bear with aphasia maybe in the old Walt Kelly comic strip who could write but not read. the opossum had to read them for him.
Or as I used to say to Doreen when she would ask me what I meant, and I would say do you mean I have read what I write?
Or maybe it was dame, some smart woman here i forget which.

Bunch of smart girls roaming around here, Jack. Makes me want to dance.
the Doll took off on her road trip today. I wished her fun but now i feel like a locomotive abandoned on the siding with every piece of metal rusted shut in the year 1932. Wah.
