In the above video, neuroscientist Vilayanur Ramachandran outlines the fascinating functions of mirror neurons. Only recently discovered, these neurons allow us to learn complex social behaviors, some of which formed the foundations of human civilization as we know it.

V.S. Ramachandran is the director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at the University of California, San Diego, and an adjunct professor at the Salk Institute. He is the author of Phantoms in the Brain (the basis for a Nova special), A Brief Tour of Human Consciousness and The Man with the Phantom Twin: Adventures in the Neuroscience of the Human Brain

the peace to end the peace and a hundred years of war

world war one did not end in 1918 and world war two began in China.

Stalin was proud to be known for his paranoid suspicions, it is said that he only ever trusted one man.

When Stalin smiled at Hitler
He saw a man he could depend on

I don't get irony

Someday I will have to read something by Ionesco instead of just quoting him.
I saw a show about happiness on PBS, A Harvard professor said our brains are so stupid it is easy to trick it into being happy.

There are many healthy benefits of being happy
If I can't have happiness give me just one thing to hold onto

What happens if you have to murder millions of people just to be happy.

I don't get irony, I should try to read Ionesco again. What happens when what we mirror makes us insane. When bad people smile on each other.

Distracted distraught disillusioned
See the downsides to upsides
Doubt makes me cautious
I no longer wish to be happy
Just let me be aware.
