going going gone
go on
find the dismal at the end of the rainbow
sunshine
walk in rays
semi light semi dark infinitesimal haze
slip sideways through the loopholes soft regret
where no one hears the tilt the shoe that drops
arcades where all the games don't count unless you count the days
you held towards the sun to see if you could see
what lays beneath















as on it goes
sinking deeper low
beyond all eyes digress
where no one sighs or tuts their tongue
and wags a finger in your face
to trip you up

and smiling on as drenched as drenched can get
in similitude with all the wagers gone before
you lose the bet
and pay your toll
while rolling eyes back in your head
sustain the game
in wonderment...

and so we play.

a retreat from
shame and contempt
from confidence brewing
from ebb and flow
to just sustained ebb
and slow

when time catches up
and passes by
left in the dust
no one to trust
no one to cross

not good enough
for anyone or anything
no bells to ring
no wit to chime

tomorrow a friend
tonight a beano
