quiet intensity

You want to drag me kicking and screaming into the real world
where panic and forlorn melancholy kick into high gear
and I sit and worry and peel back the pages of an old manuscript
that looks like it was written in braille
fingering the lettering I came upon a heightened awareness of
all that had gone wrong with the world
and I determined I would set it right in the next
chapter
I came along
a fresh faced girl with dreams glowing from eyes that lost
their sinister appeal
I apologize for not knowing any better
I was born that way
little mindless emblem of empty fucking
a quick tryst on a staggering night of fun
last of the line
lingering shadow
but
but
but I
made something of myself out of the utter nothingness
a fool with a penchant for inanity who seems a little
disconnected
a little disjointed from the rest of the
boys and girls
though I know
we're all the same
I am the shadow of the shadow of the shadow
of indifference
what do I care
I care
I care
I just react differently
when slapped in the face with it

"geez!!, this sucks!" might have been a little easier to interpret, but hell ya 'geez!!' is okay. I mean you did take the time to wade through the durn thing.

Quiet intensity...it's a bitch! :)

no real solution to the weather,
or the price of tea on a tether,
except to go all joe campbell on the place,
'cause i'm a perfect match for it,
part of the 'in group',
blowin' thru space on a lifeboat,
quite a privilege, 'tiz true....

The "quiet intensity" reminds me of this famous gem by Theodore Roethke:

( paste of "The Waking" below)

The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,
And learn by going where I have to go.

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair;
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air,
And, lovely, learn by going where to go.

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go.

I'm a perfect match for it too
like the two left feet
and the holey soled shoes

Thanks so much for stopping by good fellows 3

and thank-you for your words.

Zlat...what a lovely soft poem.
