New Poem: Speakers

A humorously serious look at life’s trials & tribulations,
American politics, religion, and other social madnesses by Beth Isbell.

New Poem: Speakers

Post by roxybeast » April 17th, 2009, 7:32 pm

A friend challenged me to write a poem incorporating the word "speakers" ...

Poems rhyme
while speakers rock,
Injustice rages,
while poets talk.

Death is mute
to all she hears,
Love is blind
to all but tears.

The rich spend all
the corporate gold,
While poor still beg
for goods they're sold.

Speakers rage
of new found fate,
but peace is just
a war on hate.

As speakers rock,
I hear their drolls,
and extoll my virtues
down rabbit holes.

(Maybe it's about the deaf ear the tea-baggers turn to the poor,
and to my / our message of love and peace - not really sure).
