Booking e-mail I just sent out trying to get some shows working ... feel free to copy it & send it to anyone you may know that could help! :)

--------------

Hey, I'm moving back to Dallas & would like to book some shows in Texas from February through the end of Summer 2010 ... maybe as Beth Isbell, or even Beth Isbell & Friends ... I've gotten a whole lot better since I last lived down in Texas ... so all should go great, just need to get the word out!

I can do either solo (blues/rock/folk) or band (blues/rock). My friend Perry Jones, who you may know, sent me this message after I rocked the crowd at one of his jams earlier this month: "Thanks Beth you have improved alot , not just the playing and singing but the flow of fun you have makes the party!!!"

I was selected as a Top 10 Songwriter by TAXI for the month of July 2008, had a song voted #1 by fans at Ourstage.com in Feb. 2009, and was chosen as a Finalist in both the 2008 & 2009 USA Songwriting Contests ... but most of all, as my friend Perry said, I just like to have fun when I'm performing and have seen that when I have fun, you and your customers do too! It's sort of like a party infection ... but in a good way! :),

Anyway, let me know what you have available ... and please keep me in mind for any multi-artist special or festival type shows!

Thank you for whatever you can do ... even just providing me a lead or contact information for someone that might help, or forwarding this message, would be helpful! :)

Thanks,
Beth Isbell

Just wrote a new song ... beautiful slow blues 12/8 ... happy, happy, happy! :)

<center>Simple Lie
©2009 Beth Isbell

Verse 1:
Sometimes, in life, I feel so bad, ... my love is gone, I feel so sad,
When I think back, it makes me cry, over all we’ve lost, for one simple lie
And when I’m down & feelin blue, I remember words I said to you, and they’re still true
you know …
Love will overcome, baby, that’s my promise, I ain’t the only one (that knows)
Love will overcome, yeah, that’s my dream, I ain’t the only one … to believe

Verse 2:
Sometimes my world seems upside down, my heart is broke, I got to leave this town
And better days ahead for me, Lord, I got to be, just who I want to be
And when I’m down & feelin blue, I hear the promise I made to you, & it’s still true …
you know …
Love will overcome, baby, that’s my promise, I ain’t the only one (that knows)
Love will overcome, yeah, that’s my dream, I ain’t the only one … to believe

I believe in the power of love, I believe in the Lord above,
I believe that dreams come true, and I believe that there’s love in you,
I believe if you take my hand, gonna make it to the promised land,
I believe in a vision of peace, yeah, I believe what I want to believe,
and that …

Love will overcome, baby, that’s my promise, I ain’t the only one (that knows)
Love will overcome, yeah, that’s my dream, I ain’t the only one … to believe
to believe, … I know I ain’t the only one, … to believe, … in love! :)
</center>
------------

Might change the title to Love Will Overcome ... but I actually like the title a lot ... lots of double-meanings going on in this title and lyrics ... and, despite your first thoughts when reading it, it's not necessarily about love gone wrong ... could be, but also is about a lot more. :)

Man alive! I'm just having one of those mornings when the gods of songwriting are smiling on me! :), Second song written in just a couple of hours! This time an uptempo eight note 4/4 backbeat blues boogie!

<center>Shattered Dreams
©2009 Beth Isbell

Verse 1:
My dreams are all shattered now,
And my love torn away,
I said my dreams are all shattered now,
And my love torn away,
But that’s all right now baby,
Tomorrow a brand new day!

Verse 2:
Don’t love me, it’s all right,
‘cause I can love myself,
Don’t love me, it’s all right,
‘cause I can love myself,
Your brand of love is pure evil,
so go straight to hell!

Solo Break

Verse 3:
And if you see me in the morning now,
Best get out of my way,
If you see me in the morning now,
Best get out of my way,
Or I’ll turn your Hollywood movie,
Into an expose’

Verse 4:
Yeah, my dreams are all shattered now,
And my love torn away,
Yeah, my dreams are all shattered now,
And my love torn away,
But that’s all right now baby,
Tomorrow a brand new day!
</center>

Rock on my beautiful muses!! Send me more!!! :)

I feel a blues album might be coming on!

NEW VIDEO - 12/22/09

"Merry Christmas Baby!" by Beth Isbell

I nicked this old BB King version from a friend of mine. Nice very bluesy live acoustic version to say Merry Christmas to all my friends! :)

Excellent, Beth, enjoyed this very much. Loved the last lines... perfect ending to the song.

How long have you been playing guitar? You have made it a part of you... an admirable quality to see/hear in a musician.

Check it out & Merry Christmas!

Bill Wax over at Sirius FM Blues just told me that the original version of Merry Christmas Baby was made famous by Charles Brown and written by Lou Baxter & Johnny Moore ... but I told him I still think BB actually was the first to write/sing the Christmas Tree verse ... but he informed me that verse was in the original too ... even though it's not in the Elvis Presley version which came about a while before BB's version ... :)

New Song ... just in time for Christmas (since it's a Christmas song)! :)

<center>"A Father's Love Will Never Fail"
(aka The Christmas Flower Song)

<i>Slow Country 4/4 - Fingerpick the Chords</i>

<b>C, G, F, C, (2x) … Am, G, F, C, … C, G, F, C,</b>
Have you seen a Christmas flower open wide on Christmas day?
Reminds me of my childhood home, I can hear my Daddy say,
"Now, gather round here children, and let me tell you a little tale,
about a Christmas flower, and a love that will never fail" ...
<b>Am, F, … Am, G, …</b>
A long, long way from home he was waiting on a ride,
Got no money, got no job, but he's got his pride ...
<b>F, G, C, F, … C, G, F, C … </b>
And as he walked on down the road that wint'ry Christmas day,
He saw a Christmas flower and he thought he heard his family pray ...

<b>C, G, F, C, (2x) … Am, G, F, C, … C, G, F, C,</b>
Back at home my Mom and me strung some popcorn on the tree,
We hung our Christmas stockings there for Santa Claus to see,
Then she smiled and said to me, "Santa may not come this year,
But Dad and I love you very much, let's hope he'll soon be here." ...
<b>Am, F, … Am, G, …</b>
He headed home with just the clothes upon his back,
And in his hand was a torn green Christmas sack ...
<b>F, G, C, F, … C, G, F, C … </b>
And he said, "Forgive me Son, I have nothing for you today,
But this little Christmas flower and a love that will never fail." ...

<b>Solo: C, G, F, C, (2x) … Am, G, F, C, … C, G, F, C,</b>

<b>C, G, F, C, (2x) … Am, G, F, C, … C, G, F, C,</b>
When God made a Christmas flower, I wonder did he know,
My Dad would one day find it there while walking in the snow,
And I wonder if he watched from above on that special Christmas day,
if he could see my Mama's tears of joy, if he could hear my Daddy pray ...
<b>Am, F, … Am, G, …</b>
A father's love is full of strength and protection,
but on that day I felt his warmth and affection ...
<b>F, G, C, F, … C, G, F, C … </b>
And I pray to God, "Dear Son, as your wings begin to set sail,
When you see a Christmas flower, you'll know my love will never fail." ...

<b>Am, G, F, C, … C, G, F, ... G, ... C, G, F, G/C</b>
And I wonder if God and Dad can see us here today,
And our little Christmas flower and know ...
A father's ... love ... will never fail.</center>
