oh how seasons bring change, rain in torrents
washing away hard packed snow, melted rivulets
run down in streams; there is a summer equinox
dream, steam rises from asphalt; summer
in the know, the show of turn, woe pleased,
cool night breezes bring orange silk ruddy
red sweat leaves, beads of dew, a rainbowed reflection,
new the dawn finds winter's fawn spawning
amphibious spring!

reasons sing like chemistry,
rings of echo round up, adaggio,
echoed stars make patterns seen
and unseen.

what do these cycles mean?
we long for sunrays, heat, when feet
need double layered socks. the clock
teases. we desire cold pond dips,
skin tricks chilled, when Ra takes
blame, sweat untamed.

we cannot will the months by
juntas, power stunts, intrigue,
but we can cease moments
with seeds of knowing.
spring comes.
soon, the jonquils
showing satin petals.
soon, the irises, soon
the half moon rises,
eclipsing glacial
climate.

polar heat, completes
cycles, salted air.
we cannot dare
a calendar.
we fare better
with acceptance.
