I'm going out to shovel. 4-5" of snow again last night. We just had 5" from another storm last weekend. We are expecting a larger snowstorm this coming weekend. The weatherman said "a lot of snow." Usually they quote inches. I guess they can't predict that yet. A month ago we had 2 FEET of snow. They're also saying that the middle of next week, we should be getting yet ANOTHER snowstorm. If the two upcoming ones predicted happen, that will be 5 snowstorms in about 6 weeks. Incredible.

I'm going out to shovel. Here's my poem for the day.

.........

You can shovel snow. You can shovel sand.
Just make sure you use the proper tool for it.
Shovels are shaped differently for different purposes.
Please tell me what type I need for shoveling shit!

I asked about pay and was offered a furlough. (They would hold my job and I'd still get my benefits while collecting unemployment compensation). My initial answer was no thank you. I'll wait for my pay.

In my state, the maximum unemployment compensation is $378 a week. I couldn't live on it. My mortgage alone is $1400 a month. Even if I qualified for the maximum amount, that's over $100 short of paying my mortgage. How would I pay for utilities, food, gas, etc?

You can't take side work when you collect unemployment. LOL!

Sighh...

Well the snow is starting to fall. It's very wet, almost like walking in the rain. It's only now starting to stick. Heaviest snowfall is supposed to come between midnight and 7am and it won't stop until some time tomorrow afternoon or evening.

I have firewood, homemade chili, a painting that's almost finished and 3 brand new canvases.

Instead of painting, though, I should probably be looking for work. But there is no work out there. So, I'll paint instead.

stuff is funny
I am no George Carlin, but I wish I could say something funny about not having money.

I was thinking about you when I composed this picture

one my brother's doodles about money

He is in Virginia too. Them old country boys with a four wheel drive pick up truck with a snow plow mounted on the front are sure to be making big bucks up in The Valley of Virginia. I guess it should be the Valley of the Virginas,

I bought a lottery ticket on the trillion dollar mega zillion lotto tonight.
Jitterbug tells me that buying a lottery ticket show's a complete lack of faith

I have heard it called a tax on the statistically challenged.

Keep the home fires burning
If I win I am going to buy you a pickup truck with a snow plow. Cause every storm will have a silver lining.

UNfricking believable!

will be back to reply to your post and photos tomorrow, Jack.. thank you!

It's 11:45pm and I just spent an hour shoveling the walkway, driveway and cleaning off the car.... about 8 inches so far of heavy heavy wet snow... and by the time I got back up to the house, there was at least 2 more inches on top of where I'd already shoveled...

in an hour!

AND.... the news people tell us that the MAJOR part of the storm isn't going to hit until between midnight and 7am

i've never seen anything like this before in my life... LOL

I should have kept painting and stoking the fire... maybe... then again? By morning, I wouldn't have been able to move any of it

this is a TRIP!

Kurt ... I have a friend in Vancouver and she says it's been in the 50s and spring flowers are coming up!

What a strange winter.

Just woke up... another 5" or so covering all I shoveled last night... 30" now where I am and the weatherman says we'll probably get about 10 more.

Do you usually get this much snow?

Wait 'til you see these drifts! OMG!

hah!

They are saying this year should break a 100 year record for inches of snow in the DC area.

I keep looking at that photo you posted ... the one you said you were thinking of me when you composed...

all those torn up dollar bills! The Word Book. The Bible. And Geoff's book, too! What re all the other books piled up ther?

What is the newspaper turned to? The want ads?

Torn up dollar bills and the want ads.

This photo is a poem!

I can't stop thinking about it... trying to decipher it ... hmmm

It's snowmegeddon! Just as predicted.

And it's all your fault! All of you!

working on something about the picture I posted, description of the elements and the books. Newspaper was not turned to classified but to the Style section.

A timely thread about
Stuff

Yes it is going to be a storm of Biblical proportions. Pat Roberston was right.

36" was the total snow measured at Dulles Airport on Saturday. I live 20 minutes from there. I measured 32" but it hadn't stopped falling at the time.

Now, we're expecting another storm. It will start today and snow overnight and through tomorrow.

They're predicting another 18".

I don't know how I'm going to lift the shovels of snow to pile it that high on top of what's already there..... but I guess I'm going to have to figure it out.

They're calling this Snowmagedden.

And it's all YOUR fault.

SINNERS!

Ten four on the sinners
I agree
we got to hold somebody accountable.
Lettuce reprent

What a wild world it is
We seek peace and calm
and the earth is shrouded in storms
and shaken by techtonic rocking and rolling
Isn't nature wonderful
Kind of makes me want to write a haiku

but
nothing to do
but wait it out

no snowhaiku today
maybe later
