Esperanza (my contribution to the Summer Travel Jam)

Post by roxybeast » July 4th, 2007, 9:10 am

The following were inspired by and describing real events on my recent trip to Puerto Rico and the Island of Vieques. Had a wonderful time! :)

"Esperanza”
by B. Isbell ©7/3/2007

I think of the black fuzzy moth,
Fluttering like a soul, free,
Upon the winds of the ocean shore,
Its red wings captivating my focus
As it floats effortlessly down to me
And perches itself upon the only foliage
With me upon this magnificent balcony,
Spreading the bright red luminescence
Of its perfectly shaped wings, as if to say,
You and I are both brilliant as the sun.
Our spirits embrace as she flies away.

-------------------

Starflakes dancing upon my breasts,
Falling one by one back into the sea,
The light of the universe dances upon me,
And melodies sweet guide the stars,
For me, to me,
I am one with God,
she is magnifico

… and I touched her.

I am only saddened by the fact
That I cannot live in this moment forever,
And once I depart, I shall be unable with pen,
Or tongue, to ever describe this experience,
This vibe, this calm night, justly. The night
Stars from heaven bathed me in their magic.
I am one with Grace. She is in me.

---------------------------

Fragile is the life she held in her palms,
New, tender, but already hardened to our surroundings,
Bright lights, intermittently shining on the stars,
Gasping for breath, affection, attention, love, direction,
And the warmth of their mother’s nest, wiping the
Sand from their eyes and the tears from ours.

Fifty or so peer out cautiously at all the man-made
Hooplah, fan fare and commotion, pomp-n-stance.
Big stars, they are, for rookies. They don’t even
Know how to swim yet, but they all crawl toward
Instinct. The alpha and omega of nature. The fortunate,
The hard-workers, the lucky, and the brave, shall return
So that may yet another child experience the wonder
Of creation, the cycle of magic that begets life.

And she held the baby Leatherback in her hand.
I looked instead into her eyes and saw youth.

thank goodness
they stopped the bombing
you say there's mariposas again?
the american navy
paper tigers
strafing butterflies

the resilience of nature
the resilience of being
sojourner truth
tamer of hairy moths
spirit unbridled

Yes great shots! enjoyed the poem, too.

Why don't you post some of those images right here on this thread?

Just use the IMG tags. Like this (but without the spaces)

img posting

Post by roxybeast » July 5th, 2007, 4:03 pm

Doreen,

Tried your suggestion, but can't seem to get it to work.
Hit the img button, pasted in the url, hit the image button again,
then posted the message, but the pictures did not show up, just the url.

So until someone can help me with all this, guess the link I posted to all the pictures on the photobucket site will have to do.

Peace,
B

Note from Doreen -
Hi Bill. I'm posting to edit your post so that you can click the edit button and see the code. What you need to do is go to your photobucket album and find the URL for the image itself. I think they provide the URL there but I wasn't sure which one it was so this is how I did it. First I clicked on the image so that it opens up in it's own page. Then I right-clicked the image itself and chose "open image in new window" in my browser. Voila! The URL you need to use is in your browser address bar when the new window opens. Click edit on this post to see the code. Try it again, OK? Love the photos! Oh also please note that when you click the image here in the post, it opens up in a new window right here so people can view it all by itself. -Doreen

Bill,

To easily post pix on Studio 8, go to your PhotoBucket Account Options - Album Settings and set it to show IMG links with your photos. Then it's a simple matter of displaying your album and clicking on the IMG Tag for a particular photo and it will say "Copied". Then just paste it into your Studio 8 post. It's eeeeeeaaaasy!

Enjoyed the PR pix,
Tom
