idly
i walk along the
glacier words
scrawled by
the hunger of
absence

naked
from one stone touched
to the next stone
named

the undulating dreams
set loose
by the heaving of air

i walk
at the limit of summer
on the stone-pillowed
ways of remoteness

my footsteps
crossing
with yours

cold step for step
through crystal clear
skin molten by morning

walked the glaciers once upon a time
when youth's sweet summer took me away
from riots in Detroit and summer employment
lost in clouds and tundra walked a great circle
spotting dung from sheep and bear
counting mosses and lichens meter by meter
down a valley slope with potentiometer readings
and record keeping, a sling psychrometer for dew points
when air was fresh and un-tainted by anger or de·ceit
ah then came the fall i signed it all away
for military scholarship and pilots wings
the glaciers melted the moss dried up
defoliation and carpet bombing burned into my psyche
a shattered confidence a strange guiding hand
took me down to the ground and into the streets
into loss and despair and bewilderment
took me back into detroit driving taxi at night
along rosa parks boulevard with sisters of color
and brothers celebrating the fourth of july
and Muslim saints in crowded marketplaces
and pimps and queens and dope runs across town
the urban sanctuary for inner city bums
on the run from mainstream conformity
a penance to pay for living the dream
of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness
the road less traveled
more or less

I forgot to thank you for the beautiful
picture taken from a paper photograph
It took me a moment to realize what you meant.

I noticed lately that I am starting to write english the way arcadia does,
I can see the german in your english

Such a descriptive language, I can understand why Medical schools in the US back in my day would prefer that all pre-med students have at least four semesters of German

walk
at the limit of summer
on the stone-pillowed
ways of remoteness
urban hermit
swept up leaves
from perennial green trees
never shedding a doubt
on remote wilderbeast women
walking about the planet
as yang to yin
bringing balance
in sober reflection

i pray for global cooling
a glacial tempest
a frozen zen
a freeze on beautious reflections far off
that they may stay when the persona has left
a trace of hunger
absent
wild
idle
ripples
naked

I ask myself
Am I awake?

I move at glacial speed
towards my awakening
