marika

This is Constantine's artlog. He posted his poems in his own artlog forum for several years. He named the forum "Constantinople" and described it as "A byzantine journey through life's labyrinth."

marika

have you seen marika dance
do it when you get the chance
when she dances tsifteteli
you can feel it in your belly
castanets and tambourine
such a smile you've never seen
what's the rush
hey! what's the hurry
forget your troubles and your worries
close your book and damn the preacher
let marika be the teacher

have you heard marika sing
it's a most peculiar thing
devils dance and lightning flashes
on the curl of her eyelashes
santouri and violin
man was made to live in sin
smash the plate
and hurl the glasses
everyday your life it passes
close your book and damn the preacher
let marika be the teacher

have you seen marika smile
it will happen in a while
prepare to have your heart unbroken
all the words you’ve left unspoken
and the passion of your dreams
rises from your heart like steam
pull the shade
and draw the curtains
paradise will now be certain
close your book and damn the preacher
let marika be the teacher

i managed to get a copy from our college's interlibrary loan program - it links all the univ. libs in ohio. the music was great - the directing heavyhanded. a flawed movie in a few respects, but the music and art design was right on. you're ok with just the utube clips in my opinion.
