cassandra

she's less than half my age
and sits next to me in ancient history
i find myself leaning towards her
angling in my seat
i can smell her hair, and she looks
good in her burgundy sweater
cassandra, i believe you
every word you say, though
you say little, incidentals
like what page are we on
or what does οικοσ mean
and i take these tokens
and i run with them in my mind
and i'd like to ask her out
for a coffee, maybe
for lunch, but where would we go
what could i possibly say
that she reminds me of high school
of soft skin and the purity of youth
like some virgin priestess of apollo
i worry that i smell of tobacco
and brush the ashes off my pants

Been reading you constant, looks good and I'm looking forward to the next. Wanted to say, she may invite you to coffee.
`Do you know, I was so angry, Kitty,' Alice went on...`when I saw all the mischief you had been doing, I was very nearly opening the window, and putting you out into the snow! And you'd have deserved it, you
little mischievous darling!
