the fade

when they don't look at you
when you've been phased out
it's like death before death
like you remind them
of the mortality they deny
and they'd rather you left already
ahead of time - to make room
space, for someone they like better
for someone that has possibilities
someone they can fuck
maybe even love, you
are out of the equation, now
you are shit out of luck
and you get angry
you deny that you even care
but it racks your head and heart
until you don't know what to do
there's no place to go
there's no place to go
it reminds me of the dream
when you were in the living room with your parents
and the monster was coming from the basement
and you screamed but they couldn't hear or see you
they were staring at the tv, oblivious
and you had no choice but to wake up
i didn't understand it then, but
i understand it now

Funny thing I was thinking about mindbum's post above

I read it just before I read yours and after I read a bit today about the 4% of homo sapien DNA that is Neanderthal.

I got a grip on getting old
not getting any older is what depresses me these days.

Still not a clue after all these years

So I keep making it up as I go.

Old age is more depressing than thoughts of death
especially if one is living a suicidal teen age life style like me

old age ain't for sissies Dino
I will make seventy this december
I sure hope so
I hope I grow up one day and start taking better care of myself
I still got plenty left to loose

take care of your self
and thank you for sharing your poetry

I know nothing about Ionesco
Never read anything by him except that quote
Sometimes I suffer from an irony deficiency
We are made to be immortal, and yet we die. It's horrible, it can't be taken seriously. Eugène Ionesco

Me too

I had a gym teacher named Mr Bodewell
Called me a sissie cause I never could climb that rope.

i couldn't climb it either - until the test - then i did it. we had to touch the ceiling. it was at canton junior high on highland and fait. mr. gurney was the gym teacher. he had a knotted piece of rawhide that he would smack you on the ass with as you came out of the showers - classy!
