When The Waves Rush Home To The Sea

At the end of a totally perfect day,
when the waves rush home to the sea,
Two sisters stand lovingly content
reminiscing a day of merriment~

Days are lens-captured forever
on thee shoreline of our memories
Knowing two sisters will always love
one another ... foreverly~

Carla and I stood arm in arm,
waves lapping at our ankles,
pointing together to the horizon
where an endless ocean met
the fade-in of sky,
each whoosh... whoosh.. of sea
connecting me to her,
her with I,
and we sang, "Let's swim!
Let's swim! To the end of the world,
let's swim!"

And now, though decades have past,
she remains my sister, connected by
sea foam, sweat and undertow.

(thank you, Marge, for the memory! Great to see you here! We are blessed by your beautiful additions to this event.)

heh... mine look like old little old ladies... i must still be thinking of Carla and me...

remember that rhyme?

"Two old ladies sittin in the sand.
Each one wishin' the other was a man"

lol.. anyway... Marge, this doesn't do justice to your beautiful granddaughters but it is my offering for the night.. inspired by candlelight and memories of looking out over the ocean with a friend...
and inspired, of course, by the love in the photo you've shared.

is the sun coming up?
or going down?
is it dawn or dusk?
it doesn't matter
as long as there's
the two of us

Doreen~
My grandie girlies, Delaney Makay and Landry Leigh will LOVE this sketch and their mom will no doubt print it out, frame it and hang it by the original photo hanging in the house~

Thank you for your thoughtful gesture~
Love the little poetic ditty too~

ps i got one of doreen's masterpieces too,
her clown painting!
up in our exercise room
above my bookcases
of odd works
by zen aficionados
and unkempt vietnam veterans
and the beats
and my lil shrine
and my wife's elliptical horse.

waves torn between homes
always travelling
homewards
to the homeshore
to the homesea

like the human soul
longing for home
and to be free

hug me a sister
with hearts and flowers
and arms around my hips
she is the sun and the stars to me
and a summer day at the beach
with sand castles and popsicles
to make it complete

I count my blessing
the gift of life my parents gave to me
my grandmother's wisdom
to her daughter
the love between my brothers and sister
because bubbie gave good advice.

beautiful picture
and lovely artwork thank you both

panta rhei you made me homesick 8)

I hug my sister
my sister myself
know that it is never too late for a daughter to know her mother's love
that continues beyond this best of all objective fact worlds

jimbo my old friend
I wish I could share my bubbie with you
she came to this country at age 13
bringing twelve children with her
some her siblings some cousins
Rescued by a kind German Baron
they just bundled the children together in ersatz families
cause they saw where Europe was headed a hundred years ago
my grandmother the the oldest so they put her in charge

did I ramble off topic again
I hope not
just singing of the blessing of the little ones
